The term coined a few months ago is a combination of the words covid and idiot: covidiot. The term is used for people who ignore the warnings regarding public health or safety, those who don't follow social distancing, like some spring breakers, and those hoarding supplies like toilet paper, creating a sense of panic.

I'm a covidiot because I keep a supply of toilet paper, napkins, paper towels, hand sanitizer, antibacterial wipes and sprays, and bleach.

There is no similar phrase in English.  If it were widely adopted it would become a cognate, and I am in favor of that happening.  I wish it would. My dad says "yahoo" and that just does not capture what "Cor Idiot

    " means.

The only newly coined word I'm aware of for coronavirus is one that lays the blame for America's poor response to the COVID-19 pandemic and America becoming the worst-hit country at President Donald Trump's feet:

    covfefe-19

I don't know of any word "coridiot" or any other new word coined out of a portmanteau of "coronavirus" and "idiot," much less understand why Japanese TV news would be reporting on new English words.

So, all I can offer is "covfefe-19," a word coined out of a portmanteau of the term "coronavirus disease 2019" and of "covfefe," a word used to call President Donald Trump an idiot, it being coined by President Donald Trump himself a couple of years ago after he mistakenly posted the random letters "covfefe" to Twitter and then idiotically never deleted the Tweet because somehow he thought doing so would admit he made a mistake, so it remains on Twitter to this very day, a testament to his idiocy, not the idiocy of making a mistake anybody could make but the idiocy of refusing to acknowledge that mistake or any other mistake he's made ever.
