What happened to  my dell laptop ?

My laptop  wasn't  charging  so I used the adapter  of my old computer and then when I connected the  old charger with my laptop put the  switch on I heard something  beeping like sound and I smelt something  burning from inside the  laptop  port and now it's not powering on. What happened ? and how  can I  recover?

What happened? the charger you used was the wrong polarity or higher voltage than the old.  If you are lucky a fuse or reverse polarity diode will have blown on the motherboard. Most good repair techs could replace this with the correct equipment. If you are unlucky a major chip has blown making repair uneconomic

Sounds like the voltage from the other charger was higher then the voltage for the laptop.  It overheated the system board and burned up the board and most likely the processor and most of the chips on it.  There is no repair for that.  Or it would cost more than replacing it with a new laptop.

It is possible that something was already going bad on the system board - which is why the first charger was not working - and then at the time you plugged in the second charger was when the system board blew.  It may have happened even if you had continued to run the old power supply.

But either way, once the "magic smoke" escapes a laptop, it not longer works.  Buy a new one.

Shithead...the power from the other power supply was not at the proper power level and you BURNED OUT your laptop. You can now take it someplace to have it repaired or purchase a REPLACEMENT.

What I would do is simple. I would go on to eBay and look for an exact duplicate of your laptop. I'm assuming it's an older model simply because you said it wasn't charging. Is this the case? If it is an older model, you might be able to find it online. Then, When you get the replacement model, you can swap out the hard drive of your existing laptop and you will be made whole again.

    Probably overloaded the motherboard.

Did you check the voltage output from the old charger and compare it to the broken official one?

Like i said you probably fried the board more mordern computers are less hungry for power unless you have some sic gaming rig
