Why are there so many mean people on here?

There are a lot of mean people in this country in general. It’s just reflected on here

Because they can be. This question is posted here at least weekly, and seems rather pointless. Knowing the answer doesn't change any user's behavior or provide useful info to anyone. The internet provides a way for people to let out their 'inner bully' without the risk of being punched in the face. On top of that, the complete lack of moderation on this site, paired with user apathy toward reporting violations, makes it a breeding ground for inappropriate content. Report violations and move on. Knowing "why" people are "so mean" won't stop them from behaving that way. Getting their posts removed at least means there will be fewer of those types of posts for others to see.

When you ask for opinions, you must take them all. Nice to rude and everything in between. If just comments that do not answer the question, they are violations. Report them.

I'm afraid that's just how it is once you dip a toe into the Internet.

Just btw, it's not necessarily a bad thing to 'doubt your entire question'. Very often questions ARE badly or carelessly phrased, or ask something that the asker could easily find out in 20 seconds on Google. If people ARE sometimes forced to ask themselves if their question really represents what they really want to know, it's no bad thing ...

You just said it yourself, a lot of them are teenagers who try to act big... but there are a lot of adults who are rude too.

I used to be rude on here, but I'm getting older and mellower as the days go on. Being rude is a waste of energy, especially when you don't know the person you're being rude too.

not everybody is rude but the ones that are you just got to ignore them

and if they dont answer the question or break any other rule you can report

You will get used to it and remember YA yanks questions and answers they don't like for any reason. You are right though there are some really hardened black-hearted answers demented in their owner's minds and they love it.

Because they’re cowards. It’s so easy to hide behind a computer screen because they feel they can say what they want and get away with it. However if they were face to face with the person they’re answering, they would have a completely different response. I work in customer service mostly answering phones and cashiering, and I’ve noticed people will say the nastiest things over the phone to me because they think they can get away with it and then come in to see me and act like total sweethearts. 

I don’t disagree with you one bit. I’ve noticed that’s how people are on here too, they’re very condescending and mean when some of us are just genuinely looking for good advice. Don’t take it personally though, their rudeness is just a reflection of how miserable they are and how putting people down is the only thing that makes them happy.

Yes or they jump on a slight mistake in spelling. It's just because you can't get them, they're cowards.
