India needs a better sanitation system if it wants to move from "developing" to "developed." That means providing sewer systems so people have flush toilets and stop crapping in the fields and forests. It means a public trash collection system so there isn't so much trash, dying animals and discarded clothing lying around city streets. It means corralling the wandering cattle that defecate in the streets. It also means doing away with the caste system that permanently relegates the Dalits and other lower castes to menial jobs and lives spent in poverty. It means providing an adequate education to all of India's citizens. It means dealing with India's rape culture and no longer relegating women to second class status. India has a LONG way to go before it can be considered a developed nation. It takes more than just educating its upper class citizens and providing a good train system.

India is a bit of a paradox. They have an advanced space industry yet many people live in slums and defecate by railway tracks and in fields. Perhaps it should be described as 'work in progress' as far as being developed is concerned.
