Where to place an adjective?

I'm studying English.

A) the planet closest to earth

B) the closest planet to earth

Is there any difference?

Both are fine. There is no difference in meaning between planet closet or closest planet.

    A) the planet (which is) closest to Earth is Venus

    B) the closest planet to earth is Venus.

Both are using English correctly. but I think B is less clumsy.

NB: because of the way that celestial mechanics works as planets move around their orbits, more often than not it may be Mercury which is the closest planet to Earth.
