Is debating racism with other races a waste of time?
Years ago, I used to debate hot-button topics like white privilege, slavery’s modern day impacts and police brutality with [right-leaning] white people. After spending hours of debating and reinforcing our talking points with sources; we were RARELY able to agree on anything. At the end of the day, we just see the world extremely differently so why should either of us spend any time discussing this?
I used to think that talking these kinds of things through was something extremely helpful to gain a common understanding but it’s just a waste of time. In debates, very few ppl care about learning new things. Ppl just don’t want to feel stupid if they’re proven wrong..that’s it.
I’m not looking to debate those topics in here. It’ll just result in never-ending back&forth..

Discussing racism with white people and the non-black minorities who keeps their butts in general will probably be a waste of time. This is because they typically want to find ways to justify their racism as opposed to getting rid of it.

Yes, it is a waste of time to discuss racism. Racism is a homonym, it has many meanings or purposes.
1. A race amongst “races”
2. An insecurity pillow
3. A pillow for ones feelings
4. A cop-out to accept any accountability
5. A system of oppression
6. Whatever they want it to be
7. Created by them, for them
8. A bully system
Unless you are a part of the founding group, maybe it is worth a debate, but otherwise, it is a waste of time.

It's pointless to discuss anything in English. It's such a silly language to start with.

The burden of proof is on you to prove your positions are based in reality. So far, I've seen no evidence whatsoever of any of the things you've mentioned. Oftentimes, proponents of the things you've enumerated back up their claims with cherry-picked data, opinions, and assumptions, not clear and complete facts. Cherry-picking data to fit your narrative isn't evidence of anything other than desperation to be right. As a white person myself, I don't want to hear about things that I know through my own research don't exist. Unless you can provide actual evidence and sources so I can verify rather than repeat talking points that I've heard before, I don't want to waste my time. Every time a person has done this and after I've researched, the result is always the same: they have bad "evidence" wherein they're reading too much into the data or more often than not they don't provide anything other than opinion pieces.

Y!A isn't a bad place to sharpen your understanding of where people stand or what sort of thinking lies behind their positions on things like "race". BUT, as you've decided, it's NOT a place to try to settle arguments or spread gospel. You're 100% right about that.
What some people call "race" or "race relations" is one of the biggest problems confronting the West - not the biggest, by any means...(we all know THAT'S whether Kanye and Kim will stay together)...but it would be helpful to EVERYONE in the West if we could frame a way for us all to grow, maintain, or improve our democracies even though we, the people, are different and we have sharply different ways of thinking about things!
YOU'VE reached the point where you've concluded that we all have sharply different ways of thinking, and nobody's going to change anybody's minds by citing evidence, logic, etc, etc. So you ask for confirmation "Isn't debate a waste of time?". It IS, if all you're doing it for is because you want your opponent to have an epiphany. That ain't gonna happen. But IF you aren't so much trying to change minds as you are trying to understand how those other minds think, then there's still some value to discussing it. (Maybe "debate" isn't the right word for that - since few minds can/will change.)
HOWEVER, for debate/discussion to be anything BUT a waste of time, it has to be put to use... The respective positions have to be put into a framework so that Western societies can discover how to properly ACCOMMODATE BOTH schools of thought. That's a tall order. For decades we've approached this as if they were mutually exclusive and inherently inimical. (That's why this has shaped up to be one of the several ideological-battles-to-the-death that seem to be BOTH so popular and so disturbing these days.) It's time we realized that's not so, and we ALL need to learn how they can coexist. So you won't change people's minds with debate, but by aiming for coexistence you might begin to build a way for the West to survive.
THAT wouldn't be a waste of time.
Best of luck.

I find discussing it amongst our own people is very helpful, not only to gain a common understanding, but to put together a plan to get the situation straightened out. You see brother, the white man has been on the defensive ever since it became illegal to enslave us and he's on the defensive because an admission would cost hundreds of millions at least.
My teacher (may he rest in power) taught us that the black man and woman are owed for 310 years of unpaid (slave) labor, interest and punitive damages. Now the last time we calculated this about 3 years ago the individual payment amounted to $118,500 per head. Today of course with interest the payment would be more and that was actually our most conservative estimate of the damages due.
Any admission from Uncle Sam that this balance is due and there'd be no more barriers to making payment.
When they dropped Fat Man and Little Boy on the Japanese they justified it by saying that they were defending themselves after the attack on Pearl Harbor. When they invaded Iraq the second time they said Saddam had WMDs and was responsible for 9/11.
Well then, here we are, more than 30 million strong, didn't bomb anyone, didn't blow up any buildings, don't have WMD's, never attacked no one, Sam's most loyal non-white servant, we gave loyalty on the plantation, showed loyalty during WWII and Vietnam war (and others), never attempted to overthrow the government, never assassinated any US Presidents, just looking for some justice, a little acknowledgement that we've suffered here, looking for some equality, for the police to not see us as an enemy but as a citizen, the white man doesn't have any legitimate answer as to why he won't make things right with us and so like you said, the conversation just goes around in circles, deny deny deny is his policy.

Probably. Scientifically, there is only one race of humans - left. Denisovans and Neanderthals are extinct

Most white people just don't like talking about fantasies meant to deride white people. Who would've thought, huh? You may devoutly believe in white privilege, police brutality against blacks, and slavery's modern day impact but that doesn't make any of it true. No, the evidence is not on your side. I've looked into all these claims and have debunked each and every one of them. White privilege is a modern-day myth used to explain black failure. The data doesn't support police brutality exclusively against blacks and doesn't support that black poverty is the result of slavery that happened over 150 years ago. The amount of illogical arguments made by individuals who promote such is ridiculous. Black people need to stop living in the past and using the past to justify their failures.

Yes, it is. I used to debate with them but now I do not answer any question regarding race, because the questions are incessant and the people asking the questions are trolling most of the time and if they are not they are still going to have the same opinion no matter what facts you show them.

Most people of any race think it is retarded to spend so much time debate race.
