I have a grandfather and an uncle that I never got to meet and I feel a sense of emptiness because of that. Is this wrong? *Details Below*?

My uncle (my mother's twin brother) died the same year I was born. My grandfather (again, on my mother's side) didn't even try to get into contact with any of us or even his children. I don't know why but never having known them leaves me with a strange sense of emptiness. I have family that I never really got the chance to know. Is that wrong? Or is it natural to feel that way?

Update:

I should've added that my grandfather died in 2009 and no one knew that he was even dead until my grandmother went to the social security office and got the 250$ that is issued to the closest relative of the deceased.

We have this in common - I never met either of my grandfathers or 2 of my uncles.  It's not wrong to feel empty because of this.  I used to feel that way.  It made me feel sad but now I just accept it, since I can't change it.
