Why did Jesus command the Church to wait for the promise of Holy Spirit baptism (Acts 1:4-5;8) but people listened to Peter (Acts 2:38)?

Jesus did not command the church to wait.  That was a specific instruction given to the apostles.

If that was a command directed to us, then we have to follow ALL of it!

Acts 1:4 says, "...He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait..."

 How long were you in Jerusalem?  I have never been to Jerusalem.  Have you?

But this is not a general command for all Christians at that time, nor in the future!

Notice again, "He commanded THEM..." !  

If you will notice the verses prior to this, it was specifically directed to the Apostles!

A trip to Jerusalem, and waiting in Jerusalem is not a general command directed toward us today.  Neither is the promise of Holy Spirit baptism as it occurred in Acts 2:1-4!

However, what was said in Acts 2:38 was commanded "to all the world", "to every creature (person)", for "every one of you" and to future generations and people in far away places. (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2:38-39)

He commanded His APOSTLES to "wait".  And they waited.  Are you waiting today?  Will the Spirit "guide you into all truth?" (2 Pet. 1:3)  Will you "declare the things that are to come", that the Spirit declared to you?(and not contradict others who "declare" differently)  Will the Lord now "depart" that the Spirit will be dispatched? Jn. 16:7.

So that the disciples would have no fear.   That is when Petet became fearless
