Why do I feel this way? It's debilitating.?

Lately I've felt nothing but paranoia and worry for my mom. It's random because my mom is fine. And, my best friend is staying with me for about 2 months but lately I just want to be alone. I can't do that to her, she's already here, so I'm trying to have as much fun as possible because usually i love having her around but when shes asleep and im awake, i want to cry. also lately i've been unable to sleep right. i went to sleep around 3:30 am yesterday and woke up at 7:34 am still tired as heck but i couldnt go back to sleep. at 10am i finally tried to force myself to sleep and i went into this limbo between awakeness and sleep u ril 12pm when my sister woke me up from it and i had a horrible headache and was so tired. so, we go pick up my friend and then around 11pm i go to sleep. here i am awake at 3:30 am, only having gotten about 4 hrs of sleep, wide awake, feeling like i want to cry and i dont know why. just recently i found out that i was emotionally abused by my father my entire life (my parents are divorced, i live with my mom) and so i guess that could be why im stuck under a gigantic rain cloud but idk. im not used to feeling this way. i was diagnosed with depression a long time ago, and ive been through a lot with depression, but i just want to know: why am i so paranoid abt the well being of my mom randomly (it only happens when i have bad anxiety?) and what can i do to make sure i really feel happy like usual while my friend is here?

We have no way of knowing why you feel this way. I'll say though that when people are prone to coming down with depression, it usually means that they're not good at dealing with stress. Also, stress management is something we all need, so it makes sense that we have good methods for this. It can help even with very bad anxiety.

This is something you can talk about with your doctor. Maybe the doctor would recommend seeing a therapist, and a lot of therapists are working on the phone these days. I mention this because just a bottle of pills is not a very good solution.

This article, which has advice for stress, gives you signs of an anxiety disorder.

A very simple things - always respond to moments of stress by slowing your breathing. Two psychiatrists, Brown and Gerbarg, say a 10 or 20 min slow breathing exercise - 5 breaths a min - is good and 20 min twice a day is a therapy for anxiety. The exercise is inhale and exhale gently, 6 seconds each.

Legally, a therapist can work over the phone with anybody in the same state. Some insurance companies cover phone therapy. You can use the Psychology Today Find a Therapist feature to get a list of therapists in your state, find out who’s working by phone, and what kinds of problems they specialize in.

From your description, it would seem life is overwhelming you right now so consider seeking professional help so you can learn coping strategies and identify the underlying cause of your current thought processes and broken sleep.  Our current world is unfamiliar and unknown, and as such many people are feeling uncertain, scared and out of control.  Important you reach out to family and friends so you do not feel alone, and begin writing down your thougths/feelings so you can begin to unburden yourself.  Time to take care of you.
