Which way is correct to vertically hang a Canadian flag?
The stem points left and the leaf points right as the picture shows? Or is it the opposite? I’ve heard it’s the opposite but it seems so off to me.... then again I’m not Canadian. I do plan on being Canadian, I’m immigrating.

"... If hung vertically, the flag should be placed so that the upper part of the leaf points to the left and the stem to the right from the point of view of the observer facing the Flag."

Vertically against a building or wall, the stem should be to the right.

Of course, if you're not against a wall, then when you walk around it the image would be flipped.
