People think their invincible, or their ignorant of covid 19, or they don't think it's a big deal if they contract it. If you're still working and you contract covid 19, you're out of work for 2 weeks or longer. Any one can get sick from covid 19, not just elderly people, if they're not doing what they should be doing to protect themselves from getting it. I know some one who's had it twice but they don't live in the US, they're a front line worker.
I think right now it's not safe to gather in large groups, with out practicing physical distancing or wearing masks. People can have covid 19 and not have any symptoms of it, you can't tell who has it or not unless they have visible symptoms. I think the US did too little too late and they re opened way too early. With 4th of July coming up I'll bet there's going to be another spike in cases in the US.
If they want to get their case numbers down, they should be doing what their local health officials are telling them to do. It's working in my area, cases have gone down a lot since the lock down started, they spiked a bit when things started to open up but after a week or so cases went back down.

Outside, with masks, vs inside, with no masks.
A three year old understands that.

The BIG concern NEEDS to be INDOOR gatherings. Stop going to bars, restaurants, stores (except when you MUST buy groceries) and any other indoor venues.
And stop hanging around with friends. The longer you are around someone, the more-likely you will pick up covid-19 if they are infected .. and they may not yet show symptoms or may be one of those who remain symptomless but can still infect others.

They should be ended but they won't for three reasons:
1. Too many people think the disease is "fake news"
2. Many those who are aware that it is not fake news think it won't affect them
3. People are basically selfish a$$holes.

I hope everyone enjoyed their haircuts, visits to the restaurant, placard waving and occasional looting. Now the dying will start. Both people and the economy.
Update: It will make no difference if they stop protesting about COVID-19 or BLM.
Because in 3 weeks time they will be protesting about joblessness, no food in the cupboards at home and a lack of money. Followed by the inevitable rioting and looting.
Empty bank accounts are one thing, empty stomachs are a different matter entirely.
