Can you use Blood Thinners in the treatment of Takayasu or Giant Cell Arteritis? ?
These conditions basically swell the inside of the blood vessels so that space for blood to pass through gets smaller and smaller. I also know that the treatment is corticosteroids and surgery (if it gets bad enough). But is it possible to add a blood thinner to the regiment to help allow blood to pass through easier?

Jim, This is a question that must be answered by a real doctor.
Giant Cell Arteritis is a SERIOUS issue that will lead to blindness unless properly treated.
Blood "thinners" do NOT make the blood thinner. The name is a misnomer. Blood thinners simply reduce the ability of the blood to clot, but they do not reduce its viscosity or "thickness."
