Would a 11 Dodge Caliber radio fit in a 07 Dodge Caliber?
I got an old 07 Dodge Caliber that I absolutely love, I was wondering if a radio unit from a 2011 model would fit in a 07 model? The 11 has bluetooth and some other features so its somewhat of an upgrade if its possible. The radio units design for the 2011 model is a bit different from the 07 version, so is it possible to swap them out? Would the Hands-free and BT work? Im getting the radio from a caliber thats getting parted out if that makes any difference.
Im a total noob when it comes to cars so any help is appreciated.
1 AnswerDodge5 days agoWhats better, a Tig or Mig Welder for steel? ?
Im thinking of jumping on the DIY Smoker train, and build one myself. I'v seen some videos that go into a decent amount of detail on the building process, with where and how to arrange the metal and to where to weld it, but not so much on the type of welder they are using. I'v seen some use a Tig and other with a Mig welder. Whats best for me is build a pipe style smoker with an offset fire box, and the majority of the steel is going to be 1/8th inch. Which welder would be better for not only welding the steel but for a complete noob like myself? Never so much as gave welding a thought before now, so its going to be a new experience, and am probably going to either purchase or rent (not sure if you can, but I'll look into it) a decently cheap on from Harbor Freight or Home Depot.
9 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)2 weeks agoIs it possible to convert a propane grill to a natural gas? ?
I want to know if its possible to convert my propane grill to natural gas? I'v heard some people say yes, and some people say no. Some people said yes but I have to replace the actual burner of the grill to make it work, while others say you don't. Its all really confusing, because I see conversion kits online and at home centers, and want to know if I can do it to mine since I have a natural gas nozzle already set up for my back patio. Is this a grill specific thing?
If it helps I have a EvenEmbers 5 Burner Gas Grill (Model No: GAS7540BS)
13 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs4 weeks agoWhats a good way to keep hunger away?
I'v essentially figured out that Im overweight because I eat pretty late at night (even tho I try to go to the gym 2-3 times a week) and I swear its the hardest thing in the world to stop, since the feeling of a fully belly at night is just the best feeling ever. I'v started to limit my caloric intake which isn't as hard as it sounds but the night time hunger has me going crazy. Any advice on how to keep the hunger to a minimum? Hunger during the day isn't all that bad since work and other things keep me distracted but at night my mind is just free to notice any little growl or pain.
I should add that I can't really do the small amount of snacking throughout the day thing that people always bring up, I just end up eating more and more without realizing it.
2 AnswersDiet & Fitness1 month agoWhat kind of Struts do I need? ?
I acquired a 07 Dodge Caliber for really really cheap that has less than 50k miles on it and in overall amazing condition, and I went to Firestone to get a complete check up (probably not the best place to go, but it was like $10 for a special, and the local places around me were much more expensive, and Im a broke college student) and they said that the struts needed to be replaced. Im not really a car guy and not really sure of parts and such but to save money, I was going to just buy the parts myself and go somewhere else together them put on because its so much cheaper. The paper I got from the check up had a description of the parts and cost of labor. I noticed that both the front struts needed to be replaced but it had 2 different types on the paper, said I needed a SR4217 STRUT-PLUS and a SR4216 STRUT-PLUS, Im guessing that this is Driver and Passenger side.
Forgot to mention that they are charging $388 bucks for each. When I looked online (autozone) I saw both for 150 each, which is great since getting both is less than the price of one that they are giving me (KYB and Sensen seem to be the two big brands). I also saw this set on eBay thats compatible with my car but not sure if its the same thing or something different, its labeled as CST100286 and CST100287 from a store/brand called Autoshack, its a set of both front struts for $105.
Any suggestions, advice, recommendations?
Also sorry for it being so long, felt I needed to get the entire story out.
Thanks
14 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 month agoWhere to take a used car to get checked up?
After buying a used car, I want to see if anything needs to be addressed with the car. For the record, the car drives great, and there are no check lights on, however, I do want to get it checked to see if anything is in need of attention so I don't get a surprise down the road. Where should I take it? I know the obvious answer is a mechanic, but Im a student and money is sort of an issue. Any recommended places, that might check the car for cheap? I can address any issues as they come up and what I can afford, just the initial check up has me confused on where to go.
Walmart, Pepboys, Firestone???
btw I live in the SouthEast
5 AnswersBuying & Selling2 months agoDoes brushing hair regularly help make it straight?
Might sound stupid and obvious but Im a dude thats always had short hair because I have naturally curly hair that just turns into a poofy afro if left alone. I want to try growing it out a little bit more, not to the afro, but to style it differently. Would regular brushing or combing help straighten out my hair. Also whats better a comb or a brush?
2 AnswersHair3 months agoWould tapping into a my cars cigarette lighter for power for a USB socket work? ?
I was looking to add some USB ports to my old car, but found that I could, for cheaper, actually install the port into my car rather than just rely on some plug-in for the cigarette lighter. I tried to look online and on YouTube to see if how's its done and it seems pretty straight forward. However I want to know everything before I attempt to drill or rewire anything because this stuff isn't really my forte.
I'v seen some people just replace their old cigarette lighter port with the USB port, and others that wire to the lighter circuit instead (what I was thinking to do, since I have some extra plastic pieces under the radio that I assume were left there to add more switches if the owner wanted), and others that wired it into a fuse (ACC).
Which is the better option? I know that wiring to the battery is a stupid option since it would just drain the battery. If I wire to the lighter circuit for power, would that cause any problems, could I keep both the lighter and install the USB port if I did that. How exactly would wiring to a fuse work (one car had the fuse on the left of the steering wheel below the dash, while another had it under the hood, where I think mine is).
For the Record, I have a 07 Dodge Caliber, that Im trying to upgrade. Not the greatest car out there, but its my first car and I love it.
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs3 months agoWhat USB port is Fast Charging? ?
Im going to get a USB car charger (you know the ones that you stick in the cigarette lighter of your car), and am not sure about which one to get. I want one that has fast charging for S10 and has like 2 USB ports in it (preferably o being USB-C), but I'v seen some that have different voltages and Im unsure of which one would fit what Im looking for. I'v seen 2.1A and 1.0A and others with QC3.0. Im sure there are others that I havent seen. So which one would allow me to have fast charging?
3 AnswersAdd-ons3 months agoHow can I light up my backyard? ?
Im looking for thoughts and ideas to light up my back yard. For some information, I live in the south and have a fairly large backyard that I cleaned up during the quarantine. I'd say about a full acre of land, if not a little bit more cleaned and a lot more that's still wooded. I want to light up the back yard a bit, so I can at least enjoy my backyard at night, and it gets almost pitch black where I am. Im not really looking for string lights or a mobile flood light, but more so something permanently outside that looks good. I was looking at 10' lamp posts to line the sides but just post itself is like $200 and then the fixture would be like another $75, at the end I would need like 6-8 of them which is totally outside of my budget at the moment.
I was also thinking the DIY way, where I just but a wooden post and mount a strong flood light to that, but Im not sure how the electrical would work for that, with it being a plug and being exposed to water and such. Also not sure how I would be able to get the posts level to look nice.
Any Ideas?
22 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)3 months agoIs it possible to replace the radio console in my car with a newer version that has Bluetooth capabilities? ?
I recently bought an old 07 Dodge Caliber, I got a ridiculously good deal on it price-wise, and the fact that it still has less than 50k miles doesn't hurt at all. The only issue I have (which is a completely 1st world problem) is that it doesn't have Bluetooth. And I don't want to get any of those really crappy radio tuners. The Aux port works fine but I just want Bluetooth to make myself happy. I was just wondering if I could replace the actual console with a newer one, say from a 2012 model of the car, that has the Uconnect (Bluetooth). Is this possible? Im sure Im gonna need a different wiring harness and stuff but is it possible to swap it out in the first place? I dont care for navigation or touch screen or anything, just the ability to connect my phone to the car for calls and music.
1 AnswerCar Audio5 months agoCan you use Blood Thinners in the treatment of Takayasu or Giant Cell Arteritis? ?
These conditions basically swell the inside of the blood vessels so that space for blood to pass through gets smaller and smaller. I also know that the treatment is corticosteroids and surgery (if it gets bad enough). But is it possible to add a blood thinner to the regiment to help allow blood to pass through easier?
1 AnswerMedicine9 months agoWhy do my Bluetooth headphones keep disconnecting from my PC?
I have a decently strong PC, that didnt have Bluetooth capabilities. I decided to try to rectify this by just getting one of the cheap USB Bluetooth Adaptors online. It finally arrived, and when I try to sync my Galaxy Buds (I freaking love these earbuds), it connects great, then just disconnects after a few mins of working. I tried getting any lingering updates from Microsoft thinking it might fix it, but it still has the same issue. Any thoughts on how I can fix this?
I thought about re-installing Bluetooth drivers, but since its a plug-and-play adapter, Im not sure how to do that.
1 AnswerAdd-ons10 months agoIs it possible to be blocked access to a free public park/playground? ?
So I was watching some freakout video on youtube, where I saw a few mothers with their children on the playground at a public park being asked to leave by a few police officers. Mind you that this is during the current Covid-19 pandemic. I think the people involved in the video were very entitled and I don't agree at all with the mothers who brought their children out during this time but to ask the simple question of if the police are allowed to remove them.
Since it is a public park that is open to the public and is funded by public tax dollars, can the police legally ask/tell the parents to leave public property? In the video, the officer said that they had to leave the playground but not the park, so this is another discrepancy I have with if the police can legally ask/tell them to leave. Outside of them interacting with the police, I dont think they were disturbing the peace or anything related to trespassing.
Here is a link to the video, and the park scene starts around the 3 min mark.
9 AnswersLaw & Ethics11 months agoWhat Authority do "Off-Duty" Police Officers have?
Its basically the title, what power does an "off-duty" police officer have? By this, I'm referring to some who work for the local police/sheriff's office but is not currently on the clock or out of uniform. I'm not referring to an officer who is working a second job like security or something because of Im aware that most stations allow their officers to retain their authority and gun while actively working these types of side jobs.
An example being, I'm at a retail store or out somewhere in public, and for some reason or other, I come into contact with someone who flashes me their badge. Outside of the full rights that a civilian has, what other authority do they have? Do I have to lawfully follow orders they say or pay them any mind (outside of actual emergency situations or situations where someone can get hurt)?
As far as I am currently aware, they can just call for an officer who is currently on active duty to remedy a situation or in emergency cases pull over someone who is driving drunk or anything of that nature. I also know that if a off-duty officer acts without proper circumstances, they can have liability issues.
5 AnswersLaw Enforcement & Police1 year agoWould whipped cream and a strawberry layer be good on a chocolate cake, over the common butter cream?
I have the receipe for a bomb-*** chocolate cake but im not a fan of frosting, so would a layer of whipped cream and strawberries between the layers work?
I dont want a side frosting or anything so its just actual cake and the filling being seen.
Would a chocolate ganache on top work as well, in addition to the whipped cream and strawberries?
The image I have in my head is chocolate ganache dripping down the cake, with the exposed whipped cream and stawberries, and exposed cake. No side frosting or anything.
What do you guys think? I suck at frosting and Im worried about clashing flavors of the ganache and whipped cream.
Cooking & Recipes1 year agoWhy is my Australian Rainbow Lorikeet getting a small bald spot on the back of his neck?
I have a beautiful 6 year old Australian Lorikeet, and recently i noticed an odd bald spot forming on the back of his neck. It looks really out of place and is can basically see to the skin. I have had him since he was only a few months old, and I have never come across something like this for him. He still seems pretty chipper and happy but im still worried. Im planning on a making a vet appointment for later in the week but still thought I would ask for some advice here.
2 AnswersBirds2 years agoDoes the international version (not US) of the Samsung Note 9 not receive updates from Samsung?
Im planning on buying the Samsung Note 9 since the 10 is coming out soon and the price seems to be dropping. While I was shopping around I saw the international version, that had Dual Sims, and when I asked around about it, I found out that the international version doesn t support Samsung Pay, Have the Samsung American Warranty, and doesn t seem to get updates from Samsung.
Samsung Pay and American Warranty aside, Im worried about the lack up updates. Does that mean my phones firmware will stay the same throughout its life? Is there no way to get updates so my phone could be more secure and have any bugs fixed?
1 AnswerCell Phones & Plans2 years agoIs this decade (2010-2019) the worst for for the Rock genre?
I feel like the 80 s, 90 s and 2000 s were the best for the Rock Genre. Coming in waves, we had iconic artists. New and old artists had awesome albums flooding in, from all sorts of sub-genres.
Examples of some awesome Giants (in my opinion) would be...
- Avenged Sevenfold, Blink-182, Breaking Benjamin, Bullet for my Valentine, Coheed and Cambria, Crossfade, Daughtry, Disturbed, Three Days Grace, Lifehouse, 3 Doors Down, Evanescence, Gorillas, Greenday, Journey, Kamelot, The Killers, Linkin Park, Muse, System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine, Red Jumpsuit Aparatus, Killswitch Engaged, Nightwish, The Fray, Five Finger Death Punch, Bon Jovi, Guns n Roses, AC/DC... and a bunch more
And if any of these or other artists are still around... their music has become sub-par.
Yea sure there, are always exceptions like Bastille, Panic at the Disco, and a few more but nothing near the same capacity.
You guys know any other Artist of this Decade that can compete?
7 AnswersRock and Pop2 years agoWhats a good HIT routine for losing weight?
I recently started to go back to the gym because the stress from work has been piling up and leading to me getting a little more fluffy then what I'm comfortable with.
I started a 3 exercise 5x5 alternating routine and am thinking of adding a quick HIT circuit for after to really start to burn my belly fat, any good routines out there?
For reference...
I try to go to the gym about 3-4 times a week
My 5x5 exercises are
- Squat, Bench, Barbell Row
- Squat, Overhead Press, Deadlift
I've been doing it for about 2 weeks, and while I have been going up in weight, I don't feel I'm losing anything and feel pretty bloated.
