What are the best free computer virus programmes?

What are the best free computer virus protection programme that you can get? Because whenever I think there is a good one and I start downloading it, it starts to say do I want to pay so much a month!

    Avast free remains for me the best anti-virus program. It's always rated near the top and it installs even on my old Win7 system.

    I use Comodo free firewall. Similar reasons.
