I asked my tehcher to checknfor me the procedure to do a research and to give his advocacy to hopefully get me the opportunity to do the research. Does the below sentence give that meaning ?

" I have even spoken to you about my intention to do this research and requested from you to facilitate me the opportunity to do such a research.

 "

    Try this: As I have told you about my interest in this research, I would very much appreciate anything you might do to facilitate me gaining the opportunity to do such research.
