What are the chances of someone gaining custody of their baby cousin?
To briefly summarize; one girl accused another girl of mistreating a child. There was never enough evidence to give to the police so they could arrest her. The accused girl has solid proof she was innocent but the accuser and her friends never let this go. There were a number of occasions where the accused or her friends would instigate a fight with the accused where the police had to be called. The accused was dating the accuser’s cousin at the time and found out she was pregnant. The accuser wants custody since the baby daddy is not able to go for it since he’s having legal troubles. Can this happen? What are her chances?

Unless every other blood relative dies, she has no chance at all.
I mean, the mother, the father, both sets of grandparents, and any of the mother and father's siblings would all have to be out of the picture. And that still wouldn't make her the automatic best pick of any and all cousins.
Do your baby a favor and move far away from this trash.

Family court judges are usually pretty reluctant to strip parental rights and they often give messed up parents every opportunity to straighten out and regain custody. So this could drag on for years. But assuming that at some point this child is released for adoption that's when you could step up to offer. In abuse cases family members are often excluded because it's believed they'll allow access to the child by its abuser.
