We probably did.  COVID is a Virus. Usually, even in a wide  outbreak of a virus, if you basically ignore it and go on with your usual activities, a virus will gradually fade away.

The correct Medical name of the illness is (and always has been) Coronavirus Disease. COVID-19 isn't a new or unique illness - it's just another of the many strains of Coronavirus Disease. The "19" in the popular name is only an identifier, and  refers only to the year (late in 2019) when this particular strain of Coronavirus Disease  emerged and began making its rounds.

CO means corona; VI means virus; D means disease. Hence: COVID.

We've done a pretty good job at slowing the spread, believe it or not. The media will blow things out of proportion for ratings and attention, but the facts show otherwise. Houston, for instance, is already beginning to see the curve flattening, and it was one of the highest infected cities in Texas. Politics are always involved with crisis issues, because it's an opportunity to make the other candidate look bad. Trump was right to stop Chinese entry into the country, while nancy pelosi paraded around chinatown in California, then turned around and said Trump did a very bad thing.

No we failed more than every other country because we have a C student reality tv host for president that fired the pandemic response team and hired a bunch of incompetents including his realtor slum lord son in law and refused to tell people to wear masks. There has basically been no federal response and mixed messages at best and it's been politicized instead of being treated like a national emergency that affects all citizens worldwide. Our response has been so horrific - except for some of our govenors that Americans are banned from travel to many countries because we have a dangerous megalomaniac in charge that cares more about making money than he cares about our lives. The GOP only cares about lives until they are born.

No, just the opposite. Other countries like Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Japan, etc have done way better than the US bcuz of more stringent controls. The problem here was a total failure of leadership.  Some are now saying we should just "let it happen," which is a rationalization for that failure; an excuse to let them off the hook. But that's not a plan or strategy-- it's giving up.

My immediate family hasn't contacted it yet. That's 23 people and we're in a hotbed community, New Orleans. Who is this "WE" you speak of?
