Kanye West entered the election after missing at least four states' deadlines to appear on the ballot as a third-party candidate. But?

He has been qualified for ballot access in Oklahoma and held a rally in South Carolina.

Does this mean that famous celebrities are beyond the law?

No, it means that they are not beyond the law.

There is no law against entering in some states after missing some other states' deadlines.

The law is merely that a person who misses some states' deadlines cannot be on the ballot in those states.  The person can still qualify in any (or all) of the other states.

The law is that anyone who meets the basic requirements of being a natural-born citizen at least 35 years old, etc., can do what he is doing.

The only national election for President is when the electors meet to vote, and there is no ballot access laws for that election.

Each state gets to impose its own deadline for being on the ballot for the state election to choose the presidential electors.  So a candidate can miss the deadline in some states but still make the deadline in other states.

In 2016, only three candidates were on the ballot in every state.  However, there were almost thirty other people who qualified for the ballot in at least one state, one of whom was on the ballot in enough states to theoretically be able to win.  In addition, most states have a later deadline for candidates to run as "write-in" candidates.  There were six other candidates who between "on ballot" states and "write-in" states were candidates in enough state to theoretically be a ble to win.

Obviously, if you want to win, it helps being on the ballot in every state.  But there is no law requiring a candidate to run in every state to win.  So while Kanye may be crazy, his decision to enter too late to make the ballot in every state is not against the law.

Different states have different requirements and deadlines to get on the ballot.

It means he should have planned better.
