Laptop screen question?

The screen on my gaming laptop broke, it is a 40 pin, 15.6 inch screen. Can I get any generic 40 pin 15.6 inch screen and use it as a replacement rather than getting the manufacturer's exact model number screen?

I've always used the OEM screen when replacing one. I wouldn't recommend a generic screen, as you've got no way to know if the pinouts are the same.

You should do your searches on the laptop manufactures part number.  You will find compatible screens for replacement.  Don't just go with it's 40 pin and that it only the electrical interface and doesn't talk to whether it will fit properly, and have the screws that hold it in fit into the threaded holes correctly.  When ordering replacement parts always use the manufacturer's part number.  If you don't know it, you can go on the laptop manufacturers web page in the SUPPORT section and do a search for the Maintenance and Repair Manual for your model laptop!  Hope this helps!!!
