Does cars has factory tint?

Highway recently stopped me cause I was driving in the left lane, and then he also start looking in my windows. But anyway he says that my car tint isn’t legal. So my question is do cars has factory tint cause I bought it at a car dealer?

Going out on a lime and guessing it is not a brand new car. Perhaps the previous owner added tinting on top of the factory tint.

If it's tinted at the factory it's going to be legal so as to avoid what you encountered. Add-on tints, including those done by the dealer, may push it over the edge, or put on windows that it's not allowed to be on. Looking closely at the edges you should be able to tell whether it's the actual color of the glass as installed by the factory or a film that's been added to it.

Yes cars come stock with a tint. Got a similar ticket myself years ago when factory tints were a new thing.

I had to get documentation of the stock status of the window and take the car in for verification the problem was corrected.

There are those who put aftermarket tint on too, so the question is if the tint is legal. As stated you need documentation that the tint is legal and also need to do what it takes to get the fixit ticket cleared. Just because it came from the dealer that way does not mean it is a legal tint!

Yes.  Go to the dealer and get your tint checked to see if it passes state laws.

the 'level' of tint that is deemed 'illegal' varies city to city, state to state, so it is very possible that a level tint could be OK with state 'A' but illegal in city 'B' .............
