Is there a light switch that can control more than 1 set of lights?

I've seen switches that do what I'm looking for for dc lights or even table lamps that have multiple bulbs but I'm looking for a single light switch that can turn one set of lights on or the other set of lights on or both sets of lights on in a living room.

Here in Britain I have one in my kitchen. It has three independent switches side by side in a normal-sized switch block.

Electricians try to keep it simple. Single light switch for single light or chandelier. This is their NORMAL way to wire and it is all AC. DC requires a transformer. (not a big deal as the doorbell is DC, so the transformer is piggybacked onto a light box.  Not many things require DC.  Your laptop has a battery charger that has the DC converter in it which you plug into AC.

My bedroom is wired so that all lower outlets are controlled by the light switch. So, I suppose if you want different lights controlled by a switch, you will need two light switches.

No.  A wall switch will turn on or off the lights wired to that switch.  If you want multiple lights attached to a single switch, you'd need an electrician to rewire the lights.  Even with the, a wall switch is on/off.  You can add a dimmer but you can't have a binary switch run multiple modes.

As others have said, the best option is switch for the various lights next to each other.

there are also software applications you can use to set up and run different lighting "scenes." The are controlled from your phone.  You can set difference scenes that have the specific lights on or off.

The simplest device is usually the best: two independent switches close together.

I have Hue which let’s me control my lights using the Hue app. I can put lights into different categories (Bedroom, bathroom, kitchen) and I can turn them on/off individually or all at once. I can put them into groups (bedroom1, bedroom2) and turn them on/off as a group.

Amazon sells smart plugs that you can use Alexa to turn things on/off. You assign the plugs to different categories and then use Echo to tell Alexa what to do.

It would all need to be be wired through one switch.  And typically you'd have a row of switches next to each other to control the different lights.  A single switch would still need some way to swap from one light to another.

The better solution is to put in smart switches and control them from your smart phone or even an Alexa type device.
