"used".  But car dealerships call them "pre-owned".

    To me:

"used car" implies only that the car has been previously used and was originally purchased by someone else. I may or may not know who the previous owners were.

"secondhand car" implies that a good friend or a relative first owned the car. Now, they have given or sold the car to me. So I know the car. I know the car's history. And I am grateful to my friend or relative.

A "secondhand car" is always a "used car."

A "used car" is not always a "secondhand car."
