Why did this dog bite me? ?

I was running at the inside of my apartment complex. There’s a circular path around the pool and that’s where I was running. I saw this lady and her huge Great Dane dog walking in front of me. I slowed down because she couldn’t see me. I slowly walked to the side and said excuse me and she said “oh sorry” and moved over. I moved over to give them room but suddenly as I was passing her huge Great Dane growled at me and softly bit my forearm. It was startling but I didn’t bleed or anything. I just started running again bc I  didn’t know what else to do. Why did this dog bite me? I wasn’t running or anything, I just passed by like any other person would do. I noticed the dog didn’t have one of its back legs. My only guess was that it was blind and felt threatened.

You can get a bull terrier. Bully would have killed that dog.

I am also confused about three legs and a bite which isn't actually a bite.

Why did the dog bite you?  Perhaps you looked tasty.  Perhaps the dog though you should give it wider berth.  Perhaps it didn't bite you but mouthed you.

I don't know what the dog having 3 legs has got to do with blindness , but if a dog growled and mouthed on ME just because I was passing by, l would have some strong words to say to it's owner.

I was not there and have no idea of the dogs temperament or whether it was being aggressive or not.

However it's up to it's owner to ensure the dog does not frighten a person when in a public place. In the UK a person can report dog that frightens them with its behaviour and it may be judged as dangerous and made to wear a muzzle.

The onus is not on you to be careful , but on the dogs owner to keep it under control.

    1) You RAN UP on this protective breed of dog and owner; slowing up too late, to prevent the dog from perceiving you as a THREAT.

    2) You GOT IN THEIR SPACE!  (Bad!)

    3) The dog gave you a WARNING, it did not break the skin (which would have been an actual BITE).  LEARN from all of this.

    4) Having 3 legs has no affect on the ability of the dog to SEE.

P.S.  YOU DO NOT OWN the apartment complex or the running path, so BE MORE CAREFUL!  Walked dogs, elderly or handicapped persons or those pushing strollers cannot POSSIBLY get out of your (APPARENTLY ENTITLED) way => when you are moving that much faster on a narrow path.

"Bite" involves teeth and teeth involve bruising and puncturing the skin.  He mouthed you.

What would not having a fourth leg and being blind have to do with each other?

He didn't bite you, he mouthed you.  Three legged Great Dane? okay??  You may have been too close to its owner.
