Many youngsters are avoiding getting married. Is it because of fear of taking responsibility & staying committed to the family?

Most of the younger people I know are putting off marriage due to financial concerns.  They have huge student loans to pay off, and don't want to combine debts or saddle a partner with their debt.  My husband's cousin took out more than $300K in student loans for medical school.  She says she won't even be able to think about a relationship until she pays it off, which she's hoping will be before she's 40 years old.

"Many youngsters" are victims of their own parents' divorces and so are probably less desirous of trying marriage themselves. But it also takes a stable income to have a happy marriage and that's something not all people under 30 can aspire to right at the moment.

    I believe it is.

Honestly I'd blame it on finances. The "millennial" generation is notorious for having zero savings (if not a share of debt from student loans, credit cards, etc) and there is certainly something to be said for wanting to be financially secure before settling down.

it's because nothing good comes of marriage, especially for men. just advise your kids to be sure to use protection to avoid pregnancy. marriage has become obsolete and the world is grossly overpopulated.

Marriage isn't for youngsters, but for adults.  There is no hurry to commit to a long term relationship and unless you are either religious or plan to have children, there's no point getting married.

maybe, but i think it is also difficult financially to start a family. I get the impression that starting and maintaining a strong family was easier 30/40 years ago. As a young man who is recently married this is one of my concerns.

Marriage doesn't have the same meaning it used to have. Society also no longer values marriage as the ultimate symbol of commitment. Couples can cohabit and raise a family without marriage, and that's accepted. So, some young couples don't marry but are committed to each other. Other young people avoid marriage because they're having too much fun in the single life.
