Is it possible to have a normal life with a person who has schizophrenia?

My boyfriend all of a sudden started hearing voices and talking to this voices and doing things like walking in a forest at night, hitting things probably to fight this voices. I love him so much and it hurt me to see him like this and one day I called emergency because I was afraid he would hurt himself so now he was admitted to a psychiatric hospital where I hope he gets better but he has refused medication, he keeps calling me saying that I am in danger that I need to leave the apartment, he also thinks someone put microchips on his head. I am nervous and became paranoid too but I know whay he says its hard to believe. But I want to know if somebody went through this and if he will be himself again, Im so sad and it has been stressful because he didnt sleep and I couldnt sleep either

Unfortunately it is impossible to live a normal life with someone with schizophrenia.

It would be unsafe also to marry him and have children because he could end up murdering them after the voices in his head tell him too.

You might want to rethink your relationship.

Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are among the most severe and disabling disorders. . . . Although huge numbers of people are affected, mental disorders remain hidden, neglected and discriminated against.”—World Health Organization (WHO). According to WHO, many people with mental illness refrain from seeking treatment because of the stigma associated with it.

Yes and no it depends on the individual and how they respond to treatment some people make a full recovery others never do and some have good periods and bad periods tbh it isn't really something u should be asking on here

NO..................That person will drain you of your time, your resources and your life. Psychosis is not treatable at home without massive interventions and is impossible for a sole non-professional caregiver.

Nope, everybody who has schizophrenia never has a normal life, no friends and they always die alone until they die.

What do you expect us to say? Mental illness is treatable and if there was love present you wouldn't post this question because love would demand that you try and make it work. That you would ask such an ignorant question screams troll. Yep, a normal relationship is impossible for anybody with any mental illness. Love him so much, bu||$hit.

People like Dan, who are ignorant of mental illness are so quick to say, drop him like a hot potato. Don't support him through a difficult time. Dan expects normal behavior from somebody experiencing something that is clearly not normal. Good job Dan, taking away his support system is going to help so much. Don't help him through this difficult time. Leave his a$$ to deal with it his own damned self and IF, only IF he gets better should you consider letting him date you again.

How do you help someone with a mental illness? You don't. You leave them. Dan the inhumane idiot.

Until he commits to taking his meds you shouldn't date him.

No different than a diabetic refusing insulin and expecting you to take care of them.

He does not respect your relationship enough to control his illness.
