How do I get music to play in the background of a video I'm making?

I'm making a video using a video editor. Question is, how do I upload the piece of music from a cd into a folder? This is probably a stupid question but I'm new at this.

Several pieces of software will rip audio from CDs into mp3s or acc files.

iTunes, for example, is one that can do it, and it's free.

Once it's ripped to a file format on your hard drive you should be able to import it into your video editor.

Watch out for copyright.  Just because you bought a license to listen to the music doesn't mean you have the right to distribute it, so depending on what you plan on doing with that video of yours, you may want to rethink your audio sourcing.
