I believe we are drawn to other souls, as friendships or deeper relationships, counter balances help us (and we them) to be free. So yes, in that sense I do believe in soul mates.

I believe there are soul mates; people destined and fated to be with each other. However, I believe choices play a role, too. When we meet our soulmate, do we share our lives with each other? Do we have enough patience and longing to wait for and ask God to know them?

    .

People are diverse, yet they are incredibly robotic, too. People like to "follow the crowd"; people think that following a majority you approve of results in more correct a life than their choices alone. If the group analyzed this area and came to the same conclusion, they should, too, since the group has far more intelligent people than them. In life, there are a lot of comparisons and groupthink.

    .

Since people are diverse in interests, hobbies, music, goals, etc., all these elements make up whom a person is; we should match each other in the important areas. We should have diverse complexity to be ourselves, and we should share our life's goals where it matters; we should share in communication and interest in each other's perspectives. Without communication, there can be no relationship.

    .

Dependent upon our choices, we could end up with our soulmates or pass them by; through God and His Love, God can unite us with whom is perfect for each of us. God allowed me to meet my wife, who I would have never met without Him; she is perfect for me. My wife is my soul mate, so they exist. Society acts like there are soul mates, just multiple soul mates; I disagree. There are people that you could exist with and share a life with; there are people who match a diverse range of who you are looking for. However, I think there is one person meant for you.

    .

Soul mates or no soul mates? Each person has a unique perspective and reasons they believe what they do. I think it's a combination of choices and passion: If we are passionate enough and choose correctly, we can meet that singular person meant for us; we can share our lives together. A lot of times, that person fills the missing pieces from your own heart; they add to who you are, never stealing away your precious aspects.

    Of course not.

What if your one 'soul mate' is a graduate student in China ? How would you two ever meet ?

The number of people we all meet and get to know in life is infinitesimal compared to the population of the Earth.

I was told, at a very young age, there is the perfect someone for everyone.  However, some people never find that perfect someone and some do.............soulmate.

It is a spiritual matter. It's a feeling which make the people to believe like that. Such feelings are caused by spirits. If two people like each other their spirits are the reason. All creatures including human beings are ruled by spirits. Spirits can create any kind of feelings. While dreaming, you are believing what you experience is true and that is your real life. This feeling is created by the spirits. They do this by controlling your mind. They can do the same thing even when you are in an awakened state. (Dreams are created by spirits.)

Spirits are separate elements. A human being during his/her lifetime is living with many spirits which have joined one by one since birth. They are knowledge, skills, feelings, emotions, interests and everything. These spirits are your consciousnesses and memories. Even thoughts are not your own. For example, when you want to take a decision on a subject, one after another the spirits think and you just listen, choose or reject the ideas which they transmit to your mind through your brain in the form of thoughts. Brain is just a media to connect the spirits to your mind. A mind is just a computer's mind. A mind is you. After the destruction of a computer completely you will not get it's mind. The same is the case with the human beings.  A human being doesn't have a spiritual body. Soul is nothing but an energy needed for the functionality of a body. It is not a spirit or anything else. A body's functionality is based on the auto mechanism.  After death all spirits which accompanied a person quit and go to different places searching new bodies. No one lives after death in any form. All human beings are just robots made of flesh and bones and toys of the spirits for their games.

God’s intervention in human affairs is very rare. God doesn't watch each and every human being at the same time and cannot live with each and everyone to guide them. These works are done by the spirits. God had created different kinds of spirits for various purposes. He had made the spirits to watch, guide and determine the destiny of the human beings from their daily activities, talks and thoughts too. Your past determines your present and your present determines your future. God has given freewill to all creatures including human beings. According to this, all human beings have all right to live a life as they wish. But if it happens to be bad and hurts someone, they have to face the consequences. These consequences are created by spirits. It's a natural system. After death no one lives in any form. Heaven and hell are only for spirits, not for human beings. God is a mystery even to the spirits. Spirits are not eternal beings but their lifetime is long.

Whether we believe or not isn't a philosophicsal question and belongs in POLLS & SURVEYS. It's also akin to asking "what is your favorite color"; a type of question that is a violation of forum rules and community guidelines.

    .

EDIT: To make it a philosophical question, you must at least ask WHY we believe, not whether we believe.

No.  I've been hopelessly in love and been in casual relationships too many times to believe in that stuff.

The soulmate theory says that there is one perfect person for you, just as you are perfect for them, and you'll find each other if you're lucky.  That theory doesn't just have holes in it, it has holes you could drive a seven-forty-friggin-seven through.

Of all the couples I've met, including all the couples I've been part of, I've only ever met one couple who is still in the "honeymoon phase" after several decades.  They're totally and overwhelmingly in love after 30+ years of marriage, totally best friends forever with benefits, and I'm happy for them.  She still refers to him as the man of her dreams or the sexiest man alive, and he still introduces her as the hottest girl he's ever seen or living proof that not all gorgeous girls are crazy.  They're so happy together it makes most people puke, and they're not faking it.

That's one couple.  Out of all the thousands, maybe tens of thousands of couples I've met, just one.  Not one of every ten, not one out of a hundred, not even one in a thousand.  Just one.

If soulmates were really a real thing, it would probably happen more often than just once.

No, I believe there is more than just one person you could have a happy relationship with. People that say they've found their soulmate have just found one of them.

No. Those typically end in expensive divorces.   However, there is something to be said about a good friends with benefits relationship.
