Why has yahoo suspended comments on their news section? If people are so offended why not just not read them?

There are several theories beyond what Yahoo has already said. The death threats were becoming too numerous. The racism and vile posts were becoming intolerable, beyond just not reading them. A bigger impact may have been the fear of losing advertisers. Yahoo did the same thing in the last two elections, so this is not new.
