Can I get group health insurance with only one person in the company?

I noticed some carriers offer small business group plans of 1 to 100 but they don't say whether that's the number of employees in addition to an owner or the total number of people within the company.

probably not. even if you could, the cost would be insanely high.

Yes, but will the company do it is the question because you can get it cheaper on your own with Obamacare?

    It depends is the answer.

    It depends on the carrier.

    It depends on the state.

And, sometimes it depends on the set up of the company.

In my state, which is a 1 in 50 chance this applies to you, we have Kaiser, Aetna, BlueCross, and United Healthcare.

    - Aetna needs 5 and not competitive

    - BlueCross needs two and they cannot be related (I.e. husband and wife and both on payroll is a no go)

    - United Healthcare same rules as BCBS

    - Kaiser...will take a sole prop for coverage, but you must live in the coverage area.

Group gives more options, but isn't necessarily cheaper.

If you are thinking that a single person group policy is cheaper than an individual policy you are incorrect.

    Michael,

I really think you are worrying about things that are a non-issue.

You HAVE insurance, Thus, if you NEVER cancel this insurance, you will ALWAYS have insurance.

    - you cannot be removed from a health insurance plan because you are using benefits.

If I was you, I'd be WAY more worked about all your lifetime achievements being taxed so all that hard work is wasted.

    - Biden has voted TWICE to tax social security benefits.  In 1993 upping the taxable amount to 80%.  Biden was the deciding vote, with that single move, he reduced the average senior's income 15%.

    No.

Some states require a 2 person group other states require a 3 person group.

There are some business associations that offered group health insurance pre-ACA.  I don't know about now.

Additionally, no one wants to bring back a situation where you can be denied coverage for pre-existing conditions.

It would be cost-prohibitive if it was offered.

Seems like it might make more sense to CALL THE INSURANCE COMPANY and ask them.  My definition of "group" does not include one person.
