Never flown before and have a question?

I've had ear surgery since I was a kid up until I was about 13. Probably about 20 times, mostly to have tubes put in. therefore I've never flown because I've always been paranoid I will sporadically go deaf and have my eardrums rupture on the airplane. therefore if I want to go someplace far I literally have to drive 20 hours, and I'm getting sick of it. I have a question about ear pressure on airplanes.

When driving on mountainous roads or even regular roads in dips on the highway, you will get ear pressure in your ear sometimes.

My question is, is the ear pressure on an airplane 100x  worse than the type of ear pressure you get driving in a car when going up and down dips on the road?

Lots is people had tubes in their ears as children and then flown without a problem.  I had them and never an issue. Your eardrums will not rupture and you go deaf if you do not have them in now.

It is no different than driving in the mountains.

I don't think it's much different than driving in the mountains, but I live in a mountainous area, so maybe I'm just used to it.  Your ears pop, sure - but it's not painful or even THAT uncomfortable.  Planes are pressurized, so you don't feel the full effect of that change in elevation in your ears. If you are concerned about possible damage, you should absolutely ask your doctor.

The pressure change in an airplane is much more drastic than in a car. Just think about how much faster the plane descends from 35,000ft to the ground than a car from 1000ft. Sometimes it’s bad and really uncomfortable, sometimes it’s nothing. The cabin is pressurized, but it can still be very uncomfortable. You should ask your doctor if it’s ok to fly before you do it.

No, it's not 100 times worse.  Depending on how steep the mountain is you're driving on, it's not even as bad.

Passenger jets are all pressurized, so you'll be safe.
