Is it the right time to leave my job?
I’ve been working the same job for 7 years at a restaurant. I’m honestly fed up with the food industry. Even though my coworkers are nice people I just can’t stand the job anymore. I want to leave and start college. Is this the right thing to do after so many years of working there?

Do you have enough money saved up so you can quit and go to college and not have to work? if yes...quit.
Do you have another job to go to so you can earn money to pay for your college classes and your place to live? if yes...quit.

Yes. You're obviously not going anywhere with this restaurant job and it's causing you misery. Starting college earlier is usually better (not always) but after 7 years of working a dead-end job, it's probably best to start ASAP. You can still keep in touch with your coworkers, that should be the least of your worries. The restaurant might love you, but you need to focus on your priorities. In 2018 I started a job that I loved. But over the past couple months of this summer, things started getting a little dicey between me, by boss and my other boss. I should've left earlier for my own good but I stayed because they needed me and I didn't want to let them down. One of my bosses exploited by willingness to work which felt like ****. I regretted not leaving sooner, I shouldn't have let that woman put me through the extreme stress and emotional instability I went through. Our situations are obviously different, but I think the end result could be similar. You should leave now, before it's too late for you to go to college.

Why haven't you moved up in 7 years? It took me 6 months to make assistant manager and another 9 months to make general manager.
Starting college after 7 years of work sounds nice but very few can or will follow thru and graduate or even be able to afford it.
