MS said that 10 would be the last numbered version they would release, and that they would just keep updating it.

No, Windows 10 is the last release. Rumor has it they are working on their own version of Linux to become the main client used to access there cloud based apps in the future. The Linux kernel is already available as an optional component for the current versions of Windows 10 WSL, Windows Subsystem for Linux.

No, they have stated numerous times that 10 is it. They will just update it periodically like apple does with OSX.
