How to fix my external hard drive not detected?

I was working in my system and the external hard drive was working fine, but suddendly it stopped and it does not have any folder inside. I don't have backup of data. Provide me the possible solution.

    the only way to fix external drive problems is to remove them from their enclosure and connect them to a desktop internally (NOT thru USB).

    you can take it to a repair shop and they can do this.

    Initially try the drive in a different port and in another computer, if the drive is still the same then either the drive inside the case has failed, the cable or the external case circuitry has failed. Try a new cable initially.

    After that to check further you would need to remove the drive from the case and mount it in a new case. External case are available from any good computer store or Amazon.

    If the drive has actually failed your chances of getting any data back are slim - you would need to send the drive to data recovery specialists where they can rebuild the drive and recover what they can, they are not cheap but if the data is important it may be worth it, just google data recovery and your local city for some hits.
