That's mimicking a shingled roof style called "gingerbread." (See https://images.app.goo.gl/rfkFUU4VgUyXXcmT9 )
That structure is clearly indoors and those aren't real roofing shingles. The picture is pretty tiny and doesn't enlarge well, but at a glance I'd guess they're cut from oak-veneer plywood no more than 3/8" thick, more likely thinner, and attached like real shingles.

Wooden roof tiles are called shingles. They are a traditional method of roof-covering. The ones in the (poor) photograph are not real ones, they are surely home-made, (too thick, and may well be a softwood material). Since the construction is indoors it obviously does not need to be weatherproof.
