does my employer have to reissue my check?

I was 17 when i first started working as a temporary there and was given a check for my first pay because i didn’t have a bank account. to cash that check i needed an ID, but i couldn’t get one. Im 18 now and it’s been over the 90 day limit for me to cash my check. im just curious if my employer legally has to reissue my check since i couldn’t cash it within the 90 day limit

I called today and my old manager told me that she would contact payroll but she wasn't sure if they would reissue it

Anonymous: It actually IS a Federal law that you must be paid.

Slickterp: The words "Not valid after 90 days" Printed on the face of the check.

Damon: They have to pay you for the amount. The METHOD of payment is somewhat flexible. They could add the amount to your next check, or issue a Paycard, which amounts to a prepaid card to which your pay is deposited.

Yes, they have to reissue a check and if they refuse tell them you are taking them to small claims court and then follow through with that. It's doubtful they will refuse to reissue the check but having a bank account is now necessary to cash or deposit checks from a job. Do that right away.

No 17 year old should have a job.

Yes, if the check was not cashed, they need to reissue it.  Who is telling you there is a 90 day limit?

Most places won't have a problem reissuing a check, especially if you're on good terms. If your manager says "no" then go to payroll directly and ask them about it. It's your money, so you don't really need the manager involved.
