Why can't politicians answer the questions that were asked instead of going off on another subject?

I blame the voters. Most can’t handle the truth about issues and have trained politicians to play word games to avoid offending someone’s sensitivities.

A straight talking politician could never be elected.

Proof? Try saying that the minimum wage laws should be repealed. People would freak out. But it’s an economic fact that both employment and wages would increase greater over time without government dictating wages.

Then they wouldn't be politicians.

I'm going to need you to provide specific examples because frequently they do answer the questions.  But sometimes they cannot answer the question because they don't know the answer.  Or in Trump's case he just rambles because he hates any question that makes him look bad, even if they're softball questions.

Then they'd be caught lying all the time.
