DOUBLE check the LEVEL and it is POSSIBLE that teh LEVEL SENSORS has rotted some from BAD AGUING brake fluid! It is an ESTER compound and Attracts WATER and MIOTURE from the AIR! The BEST car makers INSIST that you POWER FLUSH out OLD fluid and replace with NEW FRESH CLEAN fluid every 2-3 years! The NEWER ATE GIRLING brake fluid is SYNTHETIC and is more "FORGIVING." You can remove the LEVEL SENSORS and clean it with BRAKE CLEN spray! Done it MANY times! ALSO there is a PRESSURE balancing system with SESNORS so that the brak fludi is CHAGING from more pressure to the FRONT and less to the BACK at certain times! This is WHY you cannot do a GRAVITY BLEED the BAD fluid MUST be removed under PRESURE to do it's JOB! MOST BMW masters have BLEEDER SCREW on them CHECK YOURS OUT! Once you get the system CLEANED UP with FRESH CLEAR or PEE yellow fluid, the system MAY reset itself! CHECK the PAD WEAR and NEVER ADD NAPA store fluid to the system! Use ONLY GENUNIE EUROPEAN FLIUD like PENTOSIN< ATE GIRLING< and LOWE! Use PELICAN PARTS if you need them and 10=-800-ALL-EURO for REBUILD kits! They DO exist. ALASO BLAUPARTS is GREAT! Check out ROCK AUTO prices if you need OTHER PARTS! i gave up with most AMERICAN CARS years ago! They ALWAYS choose CHEAP SUPPLLIERS to make MORE MONEY! EURO CARS do NOT do that as they MUST be capable of handling the ALPS at HIGH SPEEDS< so they are JUST BUILT BETTER! and there are MILLLION MILE clubs out there. As a former SAAB technician (and BENZ  and BMW. and AUDI/Porsche/VW and VOLVO)I would REMOVE all the sensors and REPLACE THEM or CLEAN THEM and install FRESH FLUID under PRESSURE ! GOOD LUCK!

On imported vehicles when the red brake warning light comes on you usually need a brake job.
