I doubt it was the gas that did it. Your neighbor likely just had a bad fuel pump that finally gave up on his vehicle.

Coincidence. That is all. It would have happened to you if you did not loan the car to the neighbor. Maybe in 3 days. Has NOTHING TO DO WITH ETHANOL GAS(OR Big Oil will be paying out many dollars in Lawsuits. from Class Actions.)

You MUST be careful and use ONLY TOP TIER FUEL! It is POAAIBLE that he used gas with METHANOL and that can destroy a fuel pump on many cars! GOOD LUCK!

Maybe the pump is bad and was about to fail soon anyway- maybe it was something else. Maybe a fuse blew. Test things before replacing things. Wouldn't it be great to replace a $1 fuse or $15 relay instead of paying $400 to replace a fuel pump, to fix the problem.

It’s not logical to blame the gas station for a bad fuel pump

Those things go out eventually. It could have been any gas station, really. You dont see hundreds of other people lining up at the gas station saying their fuel pump went out.

Maybe the trip to the gas station was so fast that the poor fuel pump pumped itself to death trying to keep up to speed. Maybe.

Even if the gas station had a bit of water in their gasoline it wouldn't make the fuel pump fail. Tell the dude to fix his car!
