How to prepare for a plasterer to come and start work?

I want to get a plasterer to come in and do up one bed room and I would like to know that would I need to remove the paint off the walls before him coming and doing work?

This is seriously a no-brainer in that the person is a professional and so knows what s/he's doing and you don't, so it's best left to them, don't you think?

Different workmen have different preferences. Why not phone and ask HIM what he would like you to do?

Just get YOUR junk out of there. Chairs, tables, sofas, bed, other furniture.  Make the room empty including throw rugs. The more naked the room is of STUFF, THE BETTER. That means the curtain rods and drapes and also the fasteners on the wall.  They will decide on what has to come off the walls and what stays.

If you have a narrow hallway as the only access, then get your junk out of the hallway.  They got to carry in large sheets of gypsum board and a hallway full of throw rugs and little tables of ornaments is not going to cut it.

Make it easy to enter the room  and take off the doors.  If you don't know how, they know how. to do it quickly.  It is just YOUR JUNK they do not want to play with so stuff that somewhere like a drawer.  You can put it up later.

.  Drywall is what they use and works the same and looks the same and finishes faster. Once painted you never knew they are a different wall.

    .  Leave the rest alone.

. I can't imagine why you need the plasterers again except to repair a wall that has a hole in it.  No other reason.

any paper needs removing ..the walls need to be BLUED  ..works much better than PVA ...you need to apply with a roller ..its awful stuff to apply ..put sheet down ..it does wash off easily ..but it does a wonderful job ..its blue and gritty ..needs applying at least the day before ..to find blue ..check the net ..with blue it makes no difference if its gloss  or matt paint

Ask him what he needs done when you get a quote from him. Paper should be removed, but well-adhered paint won't. He should use a bonding coat to stabilise the substrate before skimming the wall.
