i was told by a relative that Kersey was originally cherokee (from how it was handed down) it was spelled Cursi, but when english language came into place, it evolved into Kersey, i want to know what the name meaning of Cursi is since im researching about it.

According to most websites, this surname is derived from a geographical locality. 'of Kersey,' a parish in Suffolk, near Hadleigh.
