 The surname Kersey?

i was told by a relative that Kersey was originally cherokee (from how it was handed down) it was spelled Cursi, but when english language came into place, it evolved into Kersey, i want to know what the name meaning of Cursi is since im researching about it.

    According to most websites, this surname is derived from a geographical locality. 'of Kersey,' a parish in Suffolk, near Hadleigh.

    There are no results from trying to find Cursi and Cherokee on the internet. But there is this https://nativeamericanroots.wordpress.com/tag/kers...

    I would try to more out of your relatives. Has anyone done a DNA test? That might help actually determine a more specific region of the Cherokee if that is truly where the
