The evidence (including tomb murals) shows that the Ancient Egyptians were a range of different skin tones.  Some were dark (so, mostly sub-Saharan ancestry) while others were lighter-skinned (mostly North African).  That does refute the old idea that they were white or something like that, but I'm not sure it's exactly news.
