Why do New Atheists insist that the Antichrist is a fictional character when the Bible says he is real?

The bible also claims that Whales are fish, birds are bats, the earth is flat and space is water being held up by  an invisible barrier called the firmament. We insist heis fictional because the bible says he is real.

While the antichrist is no fictional, it is not just one person.  Antichrist means against Christ.  So that would mean anyone who opposes Christ.

(1 John 1:18, 22) Young children, it is the last hour, and just as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, EVEN NOW MANY ANTICHRISTS HAVE APPEARED;  This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son."

(1 John 4:3) "But every inspired statement that does not acknowledge Jesus does not originate with God. Since atheists are ignorant of the reality of God, why would they believe in truths revealed by God?

Atheists have the education and intellect to know the truth and live in reality. If Christians need to cling to their fantasy and waste the one life they get in the vain hope of getting another that is fine by everyone but why do they need to attack people with more intelligence?!
