Where can I get a corgi with a tail?

Almost all reputable breeders I can find online dock the tails based on the AKC standard. To be honest I think its cruel and quite unnecessary. I would like a corgi with a tail from a great breeder which seems quite impossible to find. Any recommendations or suggestions? Thank you!

Look for a cardigan corgi instead of a pembroke.

Or import from a country that bans docking.Any reputable breeder of the pembroke will dock.   They anticipate that every puppy has potential to be a show dog.

A lot of pembrokes are natural bobtails tho

If they come from working lines, tails are also docked to prevent tail injuries.   Tails can get stomped on by livestock or caught in gates as they are slammed shut.   Docking is far less painful than a tail injury later in life.

If you insist on a tail, try looking at the BYBers & Puppy Mills.  You won't get a good quality dog but it would have a tail.  You may have unrealistic expectations.

The tails are docked when the pups are about 2 days old, when there is no bone in the tail, just grizzle.

I do not believe your claim/problem.  Anybody who had done a MOMENT's RESEARCH on Corgis would know that:

    1) there are TWO SEPARATE varieties and the Cardigan corgi - (comes WITH a tail 100% of the time).  Problem -solved!!

    2) TWO THIRDS of all Pembroke Corgis have a genetic mutation to be "bob-tailed" so you are mad at the whole breed for largely *natural* appearance. Only potentially 1/3 of those would need to get docked, so they meet the breed standard and if you put a DEPOSIT down for one to remain undocked - you could eventually get a Pembroke - as you wish.

I think your question is really a PETA-type RANT about docking and you simply know ZERO about the breed you chose to make a "complaint"  example of

Almost anywhere in Europe very few dogs are docked  and/or cropped here

Well, there's two breeds of corgi, the Cardigan and the Pembroke. For whatever reason, and American Kennel Club (AKC) requires Pembrokes to have their tails docked, so you wont find a registered purebred pembroke corgi that's intact. About 2/3rds of them have a genetic mutation that means they have no tail anyway, and the remaining third get docked between two and 5 days old to conform to the breed standard. The Cardigan, on the other hand, almost always has its tail. So if you want a corgi with a tail, get a cardigan

Put down a deposit on a pup with a breeder with that stipulation. How hard was that?

Why not go for the Cardigan WC which does have a tail.   Unlike the Pembroke, which doesn't have one.
