What is a full-cut skirt?

Is it the same as an A-line skirt?

Update:

And I am sorry this question seems so curt / short. I guess I don't need to add more. All right just to say I'm also researching where a petticoat or slip is required to be worn under a skirt and some say don't go down the nylon slip road with a full cut skirt because if you do then the slip itself will deny you the full freedom of wearing a full cut skirt. Comments on this are also welcomed. Good luck and I look forward to awarding 'best answer'.

Update 2:

I have most unusually for me, awarded a favourite answer for an 'only' answer. Linda S's reply is so full and informative I am really pleased to give her full marks. Well done Linda you are a fashion star.

Still cut skirt is fuller and wider than an A line. The skirt is often pleated or gathered onto a waistband. This one: https://shop.lululemon.com/p/skirts-and-dresses-sk... is typical of a full cut skirt. When I learned dressmaking we classified full cut mid length skirts like these as dirndl skirts from the German folk dresses.

I don't reccomend slips under these types of skirts. Skirts that are see through should be lined with a less see through fabric. Heavier weight skirts don't need anything under them. A straight close fit slip will definitely defeat the freedom of movement offered by a full skirt.

For freedom of movement in addition to the dirndl there's also circle and semi circle skirts, elastic waist skirt, peasant/gypsy skirt, and gored skirts. The fuller the cut the longer the length needs to be to balance the proportions. Knee length or longer is best.

I live in full cut skirts designed for maximum movement. I can look polished and professional and I can run around a dressmaking and design studio all day and not worry about exposing anything. I find these skirts are more comfortable than pants on a very hectic and busy Day
