Is it bad to want to distance from family?

I work 50+ hours per week. I have a family..long story short...My parents and siblings want to spend EVERY Holiday and EVERY ounce of free time together.

My grandparents and aunts call me for minor fixes and repairs ALL the time.

I just want to have peace.

It's not that I don't love my family..I just feel the NEED to have alone time and not need to be spending every occasion together.

If you are not living on your own, move out, then change your phone number, do not tell anyone where you live..Or maybe you can get a job out of town, or learn to say, sorry i have plans I cannot change try someone else. And do not show up at all of the gatherings if you do not want to. Time to be a rebel.

  • Not at all.  Time to put your foot down and inform them that you need time to decompress after a long week of work.
