Is the Nintendo Switch worth it? Follow up question: If you have a Nintendo Switch where do you charge it?

You see I’m getting this, I’m getting the animal crossing edition but I’m still getting a switch and I’m excited. Should I be tho?

The big draw for the standard Switch is that it's a home-portable hybrid system, so you can play your games on your TV & then take the system & continue on the go (or vice versa).  Other home consoles require you to play on a TV, pretty much locking you down & requiring you to dedicate time in playing them.  The Switch is a bit more flexible & allows you do some pick-up & play support, so you can get in like 5 minutes here...  10 minutes there & still make some progress.

As for charging the system, there's a USB-C connector on the bottom of the console (in the dead center), so you can plug it into a charger directly (or a PD-enabled Battery Bank) to recharge it on the go & even use a USB hub.  When inserting the system in the dock, it'll plug into that USB-C port, so it'll charge while sending the video feed to your TV (via HDMI) + allow you to connect additional items via the USB-A ports (to recharge wireless controllers, utilize wired controllers, ect.) on the dock.

With Nintendo, if you love their games...  it's a worth it.  If you're into playing some of the older titles that you wanted to play on the go (like The Witcher III, Skyrim, ect), it's a considerable purchase.  HOWEVER, it's ultimately what you want to play on it that will influence your decision & value.

I have the hybrid version so I mainly charge it in the dock. If I use it on the go then I use the C-type cable.

That charger is more than a charger. It connects the switch to your TV so you can play it like a normal console. So, keep it within a HDMI cable's length from your TV.

Source(s): I like portable gaming, but everything's so much easier to play on your TV than that 720p screen it has built in.
