Is government going to far with lockdowns mandates ? Are there things government doesn't have the right to tell people?

The hospitals in California are over max. We either do something to lower the number of new cases OR we just let people die outside the hospitals because the hospitals can not handle any more patients. Pick one.

The goal from the beginning was to slow the spread. It was never about stopping it completely because stopping a virus from spreading is impossible. If it were possible, there would be no flu or common cold.
California was one of the first to shut down and is still mostly shut down with nothing to show for it. They’re approaching 2 million cases and hospitals are overwhelmed.
Here in Florida, it does have over a million cases but is mostly open and hospitals are not overwhelmed.
Democrats and the media are causing too much panic by trying to convince everyone that every single person that gets Covid will get seriously ill or die. Not even close.

Depends on the location. The lockdowns are meant to flatten the curve so that hospitals aren’t overwhelmed and care doesn’t become rationed leaving people to die.
Many states now are in trouble of that happening.

How about we just do away with everything.
Speeding
All drugs
Theft
Paying taxes
Murder
Rape
Min purchase age for alcohol
There is a lot more.
If people were smart enough to follow suggested guidelines, gov wouldn't have to step in.
I was in Walgreen's yesterday, getting my wife's prescription. Guy was walking in the store with no mask. Female cashier asked him to put his mask on to be in the store. He started yelling at her for trying to take away his freedoms. In her face. Just a little girl, not more than 22 or 23. Yelling, in her face. I looked at him, and told him to stop it, he was scaring her. "Just go put your mask on dude." FukerPushed me. I cold-****** him. Cops were called, witnesses told the officer what happened, and arrested him for assault against me. I told them I didn't want to press charges. I took my mask off, went home, and drank a beer.

The Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution make it clear that there ARE things the government doesn't have the right to tell people.
The original shutdown was necessary and proper, because the disease was dangerous, we needed to slow the spread so that hospitals would not be overwhelmed, and we didn't really know very much about the new coronavirus.
Since then, we have learned a great deal about how the disease is spread, who is most likely to have serious illness or death, and how to treat it. The situation is different now. We ought to protect the people who are in danger of serious illness, while allowing those who will easily recover to go about their school or business.
Yes, the elderly and immune compromised CAN be protected without shutting everything down.
People will obey guidelines when they know the reason. But people are rightly becoming skeptical of the reasons for the excessive government restrictions.

When it comes to public health - NO they ARE NOT going too far!
Health BEFORE liberties!
But YES there are some things the should NOT have the right to - but have taken anyway - public health is one thing - BUT if the only one that MIGHT be at risk is the guy doing it (Like use of a seat belt) there they SHOULD NOT have the right!

How about if they said this - we aren't going to do any lock downs so when your dumbass can't even get into a hospital much less get the ICU care you need to keep your dumbass alive don't come crying to the Gov't - "ENJOY your freedom! Die at HOME" maybe that is what you want for a new paradigm slogan.

It should depend on how full your hospitals are?
Masks & lockdowns are designed to help the hospitals & medical staff keep up with the number of patients they're trying so desperately to save.
Nobody wants to die in the street, or even in the hospital parking lot.
