Was I in the wrong? I shouted at two people on the train? Should I not have said anything?

Basically I was just on the train (I am female and 27) and this Romany gypsy begger young woman came on the carriage with some piece of paper showing it to each passenger asking for money. I never give money to these beggars (they are a usual occurrence on London Underground) but I don’t get angry at them especially the women because I can imagine they are probably being threatened and asked to do this by people in control of them and they might have been trafficked and are probably being abused against their will and I’m pretty sure they have had fairy awful lives without chance of escape. So anyway I ignored the lady and man next to me gave her some change, she then moved on to a couple, a roughly spoken English couple with a baby who where extremely chavvy and sounded very ignorant and not educated - probably from a council estate. Anyway they both swore abuse at the girl in particular the man who gave a running abusive dialogue to her and said why don’t you go back to where you came from or use the benefits you probably claimed like you all f*kin do!! Yeah that’s right walk on you f in tramp ‘ and he continued swearing abuse and his girlfriend or wife did the same full of hate in their faces.

Update:

It made me angry their behaviour and I felt it was also rooted in racism - I look white though ethnically I am not and I told them the whole train doesn’t want to know their opinion.

Then they both started swearing at me and shouting abuse. I shouted back to them in response and the girl said she would follow me of the train and accused me of taking photos of her - she stood up and started swearing at me - she looked a bit

Update 2:

shocked when she realised I am around 5 inches taller than her and wel built and strong looking for a woman but they continued swearing etc and I got off the train at the next stop.

Was what I did wrong? I am of course in no way saying it is right for people to beg on trains but I did somehow feel sorry for the woman because she is probably trafficked or abused badly in some way and shouting and hurling chavvy abuse towards her

Update 3:

- especially around Christmas time - made me feel so disgusted. I should add I am in a good job and very successful myself so I am not in the position of this girl and I am pretty certain I am probably in a better job than these two people as they looked like typical benefit scroungers or Jeremy Kyle extras.

Update 4:

No they had a london chavvy faux cockney accent.

Update 5:

They where not Scottish. I presume either from a council estate in London or Essex.

We never know someones story this is the thing and to approach everything from a place of anger is counter productive for everyone including the abusers because they too will be on their ar se oneday and be refused humility and kindness for their treatment of this woman when they need it most by him upstairs.

Good for you, you were 100% in the right. Those people sound like absolute demons.
