Mentee doesn’t engage or talk to me. Should I bring this up to supervisor?

I’m mentoring two teenage sisters. A 14 and 17 year old. The 17 year old always talks and shows up for our virtual meetings every week. However the younger 14 year old sister shows her face like once every 3 weeks. (I don’t know if she is shy or takes time to open up or doesn’t want to talk or is insecure). I only send our meeting link to the 17 year old because I have her email. Should I start sending the email with meeting link to the younger sister as well? How can I get her more engaged? Is this something I should bring up to my supervisor? Why may she not be talking or engaged?

Don't waste your time mentoring if the ingrate does not want to participate.  You're not going to get her engaged unless she WANTS to be.  Just focus on helping the 17 year old who appreciates your time.

Why haven't you brought this up with her parents? If this is part of a job or a volunteer situation you are in, of course you should bring it up with your supervisor, as well.  Unless you can learn why she isn't engaged, you won't be able to change things. You didn't describe what kind of "mentoring" is going on, which might have some bearing. Continue to be present, supportive and available, good luck,

She's in that awkward teenage year.  She'll come around when she's ready.  You can mention this to your supervisor but you'll probably get the same advice as your getting here.

She does not want to be bothered by you or anyone else. Leave her alone. You cannot force her. leave it be.
