Do you really need to deep clean the toilet bowl?

It’s where you poop, surely it’s good enough if it doesn’t smell and it looks clean, do you REALLY need bleach? thoughts?

Update:

I usually use thick bleach and toilet wipes and i use an in-cistern block and duck fresh disks so i do keep it clean i was just wondering if bleach is necessary or like is toilet cleaner without bleach ok

If you live in a hard water area FREQUENT cleaning is the most important thing as you don't want a rough surface to build up as that will hang onto what ought be flushed away.  It sounds like you're wanting to swing from one extreme to the other!  If you're using cistern blocks giving the bowl a good scrub down once a week should suffice as long as everything goes down with the flush.  If your toilet smells there's wee hiding somewhere.  Don't forget to clean under the rim, under the seat, and the toilet seat hinges.  If you have little flaps hiding the screws lift them up and steel yourself if you've never done it before!  If there are males in the house check that any bad smell isn't coming from the floor around the pedestal.  Fiw, I use eco friendly loo cleaner for any touch up cleaning throughout the week and use thick bleach for the big, weekend clean.  Even so, most people use too much bleach.  It's very powerful stuff, a little goes a long way.

The poop came out of YOU.  It didn't harm you then, did it?  Yeah, if large amounts stayed inside, it would be harmful.

Besides, how many germs are you going to pick up through your butt cheeks?

If the toilet looks clean, it's clean enough.

    🥴🙄😊

Of course you need bleach. Or comet that comes with bleach in it.

Lysol and ammonia can only do so much.

But to fully sterilize.... you need bleach to 100% kill the germs.

🥴 COVID can also survive the others. But not bleach.
